Megan Cook

In search of a workout that would engage me both physically and mentally, I started taking classes at Rooted in 2017, and haven’t looked back since. I came for the strength and toning, and stayed for the juicy stretching, the fact that no two classes are ever the same, and the sense of community I found at the studio. As someone who’s identified as a “non-athlete” for most of my life, I love that barre is endlessly modifiable and accessible to folks with all kinds of different bodies at all kinds of fitness levels. I want students to leave my classes feeling strong, energized, and ready to face their challenges, whatever they might be.

 

Originally from the Midwest, I came to Maine in 2011 by way of Philadelphia, where I earned a PhD in literature from the University of Pennsylvania. When I’m off the mat, you can find me teaching English, running on the Eastern Prom, and thoroughly enjoying Portland’s restaurant scene
